Link Courses

We have developed these courses which combine English with academic subjects specifically for overseas students who wish to continue their education in Britain, either at boarding school, college or university (school, high school or university). Their entry level depends upon the student's age, qualifications, level of English and intended academic destination.

Students in categories 1 - 3 are prepared for the Cambridge IELTS examination. A score of 6.0 + is usually accepted by all universities as a sufficient level of English for degree courses. They would also take the Cambridge examinations at the appropriate time and level.

1. Students aged 15 - 16 years

A. With poor English
They would study Intensive English with us until they are near Cambridge FCE level or equivalent.

B. With the above near FCE level of English
They would study 16 hours of English combined with 3 GCSE subjects. These would include Mathematics and two from Art, Business Studies, Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics etc. with 12 hours GCSE teaching per week. Total class time 28 hours.

2. Students aged 16+

A. With poor English and GCSE equivalent
They would study Intensive English with us until they are near Cambridge FCE level.

B. With near FCE level of English and GCSE equivalent
They would take a 2-year A level course. Year 1 would be 6 hours of English per week and 3 AS Level subjects with 18 hours academic teaching and 2 hours of Study Skills per week. Total class time 26 hours. Year 2 would be 6 hours English per week with I new subject, i.e. 3 A Level subjects with 18 hours academic teaching per week. Total class time 24 hours.

3. Students with GCE A level or the equivalent

A. With poor English.
They would study Intensive English with us until they are near Cambridge FCE level.

B. With near FCE level of English and poor academic grades
They would take a 1-year A level course with 4 hours English teaching per week and 3 A Level subjects with 24 hours academic teaching and 2 hours of Study Skills per week or do a 1-year preparation course for admission to university Foundation Courses. Total class time 36 hours.

C. With near FCE level of English and good grades wanting to apply for medicine, dentistry etc. They would take the same English and A Level course as 3B but with much higher expectations.

4. Students aged 12 + years wanting admission to British boarding schools (Pre-entry Courses)

They would take the Intensive 24 hour per week English course with us in the Summer, supplemented with subject vocabulary, Study Skills and preparation for entrance examinations.

Please note there are many possibilities and we have the flexibility to combine GCSE and A Level subjects in these courses

Intensive One Year A level - Tuition £9750.00, Accommodation £4200.00. Total £13950.00
